Dr. Thomas Oppenheim Becomes One of 51 Dentists in the World to achieve Fellowship in the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry® April 8, 2009 Thomasville, GA – Dr. Thomas Oppenheim, of Thomasville, Georgia has achieved Accredited Fellow status in the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) – joining and elite group of 51 dental professionals in the world who have earned this prestigious designation. Dr. Thomas Oppenheim will be recognized in a ceremony at the organization’s 25th Anniversary AACD Scientific Session, held in Honolulu, Hawaii in May 2009.

Fellowship marks the highest level of clinical achievement in the AACD. Dr. Thomas Oppenheim reached this status through dedication to continuing education, careful adherence to protocol, and his demonstrated ability to produce consistently exceptional dentistry.

“I am honored to become an Accredited Fellow of the AACD. The challenges of the program have advanced my clinical skills and knowledge and provided my patients with credible validation of the cosmetic and restorative skills I believe each patient deserves when choosing a cosmetic dentist.” commented Dr. Oppenheim.

Dr. Thomas Oppenheim received his dental degree from the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry and completed a general practice residency in 1979. He has maintained a comprehensive restorative practice with an emphasis on esthetics for over 20 years in Thomasville, Georgia. In 1996 he achieved accreditation in the AACD and now serves as a mentor and Accreditation Examiner. Dr. Oppenheim has written and lectured on the topic of smile design and is known for his “no-compromise” approach to excellence in cosmetic dentistry. “I feed my passion for dentistry by continually challenging myself with expanding my skills in both restorative and cosmetic dentistry.” states Oppenheim.

The AACD offers dentistry’s most recognized advanced credentialing programs for dentists and dental laboratory technicians. AACD members who wish to become accredited must undergo a three-part process consisting of passing a written examination, passing testing of their actual clinical cases in key categories of cosmetic dentistry and passing an oral examination. Each candidate must also attend a series of workshops as part of the program. After achieving accredited status, AACD members may begin their journey toward Fellowship by submitting 50 clinical cases for review according to accreditation standards. Accredited Fellow status is considered the pinnacle of excellence in cosmetic dental artistry. Dr. Oppenheim’s smile designs have been featured on seven covers of the AACD’s prestigious quarterly Journal of Cosmetic Dentistry and he has won gold Medals in ten consecutive AACD International Smile Gallery Competitions, including “Best of Show” in Honolulu in 2002.

About the AACD The AACD is the largest international dental organization dedicated specifically to the art and science of cosmetic dentistry. Founded in 1984, the AACD has nearly 8,000 members in the United States and 70 countries worldwide.
